Alexas Morgan, an adult content creator with 5.5 million Instagram followers, was arrested while vacationing in the Middle East. She was accused of creating explicit content for her OnlyFans account. The 27-year-old from Miami was detained at her hotel in Wadi Rum during the early hours of August 17 by armed police.
Morgan recounted the frightening ordeal, saying, “It was late night… they cut the Wi-Fi before five men, only one in uniform, special police as they called themselves, pummelled the door to my hut in the middle of the desert at 3 a.m. They took all my belongings with no reason and I couldn’t make out anything they were saying. They immediately took all phones and electronics.”
At the police station, she was informed via a translator that she was being accused of making sexual content, though she stated she wasn’t creating any material during her trip. “They learned I had an OnlyFans and I had to open it in a room full of men who were looking at my photos and videos," she said. "I felt uncomfortable and was scared of what was going to happen, fearing that my profession would get me in trouble and jailed."
Morgan described the situation worsening at the station. “It was clear the whole department knew about what was happening, and officers kept walking into the room to look at my phone while they were going through my camera roll and website.”
She was held for 17 hours before being allowed to contact her family in Miami. Armed police then escorted her to court. “I was notified by the lawyer I hired that they were saying having an OnlyFans is illegal and it is a different charge, even though I opened it outside of the country five years ago.”
Morgan is currently stuck in the country under a travel ban and has reached out to the U.S. Embassy for help. Her situation remains uncertain.
